My art is a quest to bring the soul of objects—the silent witnesses of the past—into the present through the discipline of ancient techniques. My journey, which began in 1995 with restoration and conservation at Ege University, has evolved over time into a focus on the material itself: the historical existence of paper, parchment, and the book.

I blend the tradition of apprenticeship I received from Ismail Arac, the last parchment master of Anatolia, with modern conservation practices in England. In my work, I transform the raw power of nature into artistic expression, not only through parchment but also through papyrus derived from vegetable fibers and handmade papers.

To me, paper is not merely a surface; it is a living organism that carries the knowledge of antiquity, the labor of the hand, and the aesthetics of today. My goal is to build a bridge to future generations by reinterpreting this thousands-of-years-old craft heritage within the boundaries of contemporary art.

Based in England since 2018, I continue to refine my expertise through book and paper restoration studies under Caroline Bendix and Judith Ellis.

Since March 2023, I have been serving as a collection and conservation assistant at Oxborough Hall under the National Trust, while contributing my works and research to various international art and craft publications in both Turkey and the UK.
